MONDAY / open training – competitive

Stade d’Ixelles – Rue Volta, 18 in 1050 Ixelles

Schedule

From Monday 2 September 2019

20.15-20.45: physical warmup (small field next to tennis) – no cleats advised

20.45-22.45: drills/plays/games (big field)

For who?

  • Open to all the players (M/W) that have a sufficient skill levels in Ultimate and a motivation to improve
  • Good knowledge of the rules (rules of play and spirit)
  • Reliable players: come regularly, even through winter ūüôā

Objectives?

  • Raise the overall level of the players in the Club
  • Create a competitiveness spirit and will to play Ultimate in Belgium and abroad
  • From early 2020: Prepare as many competitive teams as possible for the BUOC 2020 in April/May

Requirements?

  • Motivation: you set yourself personal goals and try to improve your game
  • To help you picture what we need, we dressed a list of attention points upon which we will determine who will train with that group. We expect players to:
    • Catch the disc regularly (and adapt to different heights of throws)
    • Throw a consistent backhand when marked (At least 8 times out of 10 you can make a successful pass 15-20 meters long)
    • Throw a consistent forehand when marked (At least 8 times out of 10 you can make a successful pass 15-20 meters long)
    • Have body control when on offense (able to pivot naturally, changing grips on the disc, be able to do basic fakes..)
    • Have body control when on defence (marking: good position of body and hands, being on toes for a quick reaction..)
    • Know how to position in different offensive and defensive situations
    • Have a willingness to improve (listening to coaches, giving 100%)
    • Apply the Spirit and know the standard rules notions
    • Be rigorous (as possible) in the attendance
If the coaches see that a player is clearly and consistently missing some of the criteria’s above, we will decide whether you can keep coming to the Monday training or whether is better for you to attend the other trainings organised by the Club (Thursday/Friday) for some time. We will be clearly open to feedback if any of those situations arise.
We want this to be an incentive to achieve the objectives above and make sure that everyone is actually enjoying playing Ultimate. If you practice without the minimum level and lag behind the group, you will not improve.

Coaches: Martin L, Valerio. Support: Pablo, Zach, Kath, Mikko, Elsa, Coco, Tada and Didier
