Division 1 - XLR8RS - 1st WE - Report from Mike:

Just a quick mail to say well played to the xlr8rs players at the BUOC weekend.

Despite losing our first two games to Freezbeez and Mooncatchers, we rallied back and beat Freespect on Saturday to come 3rd in our pool of 4, and on Sunday we won our two games easily so we are looking good to come in the top two of the second pool of six, giving us a place in the quarter finals and top 8...

Some more detailed reporting and scores, from what I remember!:

Freezbeez (8-11): Our first game and we had a good warm-up with Casa. But we somehow let them score the first 2 points and then they got to 5-1 ahead, oops! Too many mistakes from the handlers, eg long throw-aways from me, sorry guys. We managed to get some D's and come back into the game after half time (7-3), getting back to within 2 points and we even had the chance to make it 10-9 in the final minute, with the disc on their line (doh, my bad!), but they scored to make it 11-8. Next time we play Freezbeez I think we can take them, let's make sure of it!

Moon (score? 8-13?): Again we started a little sleepy, but we managed to keep in touch until 5-6 when they won the important half-time point. After the half we came out strong and had a chance to get back to 8-7 but they won a long point with several calls to make it 9-6, after which we traded points and they won fairly comfortably. They played some zone on us and marked underneath as they realised we weren't really using our long throws/deap threat, something to work on maybe. Well played Tof!

Freespect (13-11).
We started well against this fairly inexperienced team who had, quand-meme, just lost to Freezbeez 11-10 so we knew we had to raise our game. We managed to do this with some great work on D (with some point blocks for Heiko and nice D by Jerem and Albin) and some smooth flow from the middles, some super hucks from Bilal and lots of catches from Arac and Mattieu in particular. At 12-7 ahead we then relaxed and proceeded to give them 4 points in a row, including some hilarious scores by people half the size of us (Lio ;)), a dropped pull and some very nervous play to give the sideline the jitters... But we scored the final point and it was panic over, beers in.

SUNDAY
F$$king Hellfish (15-6)
Well played XL. We only had 10 players for this game due to injuries and absence, and we started strong with some sweet hucks from Dave and great cutting and running from Casa and Amaury to win the match early on. They didn't really have a chance and our zone D made them nervous. We got to 11-2 before we let them score 3 in a row, but we did a good job in this game.

Gentle 2 (15-5)
This was a nice team from Gent who were playing Co-ed, so it was a pity we didn't have our ladies to make this a super fun game. As it was we won the first 7 points of the game and they never really had a chance, well played XL, we kept it together and did a good job.

All in all thanks guys for a fun weekend. We clearly need to work a bit more at training if we want to achieve our goal (3RD PLACE). We have to punish teams by scoring each time we have the disc. If you don't turn over, you win the game, simple as that. We still make too many silly mistakes. Sometimes we have the perfect flow and score with ease, we need to make that more consistent!

Thanks guys for all your hard running and see you soon (Mondays and Thursdays!). Next BUOC weekend is April 18-19, we will need everyone to be available if possible, please!...
Cheers,
Mike

Division 2 - Pixels - 1st WE - Report from Luc:

Some news from Pixels. Any Pixelito welcome to add flesh to the following bone:

Overall, 2 games won out of 5.

Saturday, we lost against ULB but easily won against Gentle D and Propellors. Sunday, we lost against Diabolic Heaven I and II. No idea where that leaves us in terms of ranking and stuff…

Unsurprisingly, we lost when the opposing team was all (or mostly) men. We probably would have won against the same teams playing coed.

I’m glad we’ll be united again for the 2nd WE!
Cheers
Luc
